It is making a clicking sound just before the error message appears like the tiny plastic gears are slipping. I do not believe it is a logic board issue. I also get the improper shutdown error, but I think that is because the ink carriage does not return to its proper position do to the paper jam and then the printer gets turned off. I have receive the fake paper jam message. Then the paper jam error message is given. When the unit is turned on the carage will begin a "search rutine" but will eventually go all the way to the left side when the carrage is directly above the ink cartigages, make a strange clicking sound for a few seconds and then the carrage will move to the right about 4 inches and stop. However, using the units power button makes no difference. I've also noticed that the unit gives me an improper shutdown error as well and tells me to turn the unit on and off with the units power button and not a switch on the power switch. Is there some way to determine what might be causing this problem so I can repair the printer on my own? I've read about bad or stuck sensors in other threads having phantom paper jams. However, I've reviewed all the methods of looking for paper pieces and have found nothing. I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless printer that keeps reporting a paper jam.

The app's, still going through those, but the coupons app, already saved me 5 bucks at the grocery store today. Even more good news, I can print photo's and scan using my iPhone (iOS 4.1) and iPad (iOS 3.2) and save the image to either device. I was surprised how effortless it was to set up and go. oing through HP Support Knowledge base and HP network utilities. Now I did have some issues with another laptop (WindowsXP) using the printer, but that was due to Symantec 360 firewall issue which was resolved g.

Now for the best part, the wireless setup took less than 2 minutes. Fast and fairly quiet printing, excellent output both pictures and text. That unit lasted forever, but was not compatible with Windows7 so I bit the bullet and purchased the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus. I purchased this printer to replace a OfficeJet T45.
